What is the best department store brand of foundation for oily skin?
I'm not interested in drug store brands (Cover Girl, Mabelline, etc), nor mineral makeup. I've tried MAC Studio Fix (worked okay, but I want to see if there's a better option) and never had much luck with Clinique or Clarins. Anyone have experience with Shiseido, Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, or the like?|||I'd recommend a dermatologist because theres only so much foundations out there that are good for the skin. But dermatologists can find a preface-lotion that you apply before putting any foundation on that helps take care of the oily skin. Might be pricey so if you can't afford it, I suggest Bare Minerals, I love it! good luck. xx|||Try Chanel Double Perfection. It can be applied wet and dry and provides full coverage. Also, if you have oily skin it is best that you apply a primer first prior to applying your makeup that way it will last longer and the primer will protect your skin and serve as a barrier between the makeup and your pores.|||Mary kay is the best for oily or dry skin. Can you use a cleansing milk with the clarisonic?
Im planning on buying the clarisonic and im not sure what type of cleanser to use with it. Im currently using the clarins cleansing milk at night and would prefer to keep using it, but can i use that with the clarisonic?|||yes

Bare Essentials is a brand of makeup that is made from all natural elements. I tried it once and I was hooked. They say that it is so okay for your skin that you can sleep in it. I barely get pimples anymore.

How do I shave my face without getting a rash?
I am sick of coming out in a rash a day or two after shaving. I usually don鈥檛 bother with shaving because of it. I generally just have permanent stubble which I trim close with clippers.
Whenever I try to shave (wet shave or dry electric) I look great for a day then during the second day I start to get spotty and by the third day I have an awful painful rash which itches and hurts.
I have tried all the expensive shaving products from Clinique to Clarins.
Someone help! I cant go through life with stubble, my girlfriend is getting stubble rash!|||Look for a product called ultra shave - follow the instructions and your skin will clear up. Sounds like you might have a slight fungal infection. This natural formulation contains a bactericide. You'll have smooth soft skin within a few days.|||Make sure you don't shave with a dull razor. But I would suggest try shaving in the opposite direction than you have been shaving. My boyfriend gets a rash when he shaves with upward strokes, but no with downward ones. Also, try taking your time, and make sure you are shaving at the right angle to only require one stroke versus two or three, because the more a razor goes over the same spot, the more irritated the skin Will become. Good luck!!|||I used to break out when I used a razor. I learned that I had to presoak my beard thoroughly before shaving to get the desired results. What I do takes a little time, but it does work, and I have avoided rashes for years now. I shave in the shower. I take my shower as usual making sure to keep my face good and wet rubbing the warm water in every chance I get. I have a mirror in the shower to facilitate accuracy. I use the shaving gel which gets more moisture to my beard and I rub the gel in thoroughly. Then I make sure the razor is sharp (two shaves per blade is about it for me). I use the Gillette Trac III which seems to work really well - they also make disposables that are good. I shave very slowly to make sure that I am not abrading my face. This has worked for years to help me avoid shaving rash.|||put a hot flanal on ur face for a min to open the pores and after shaving spash ur face with cold water to close the pores. also use sensative shaving gel and after ur done put sensative aftershave cream on or sodo crem i find is good.|||For the extremist versions of stubble rash might be best to do some proper research but I struggle with stubble rash so I can over a few suggestions to help reduce it, though it doesn't totally get rid of it:
Never wash with soap anytime before shaving, this dries your skin and is the worse thing you can do. Try washing with soap afterwards.
However, soaking your face with just water beforehand is very good, especially say a shower, as you're in the water for quite a while. Remember though not to use soap!
Don't put aftershave on your skin, put it on your collar or lower down underneath your neck at least.
I know it can be a pain when trying to look smart or whatever but I only shave every other day, and hardly at all over weekends unless I'm going somewhere special. Those few days rest can help.

a bit expensive but the blades are sooooo cheap, it will pay for itself in a short while, and you can afford to keep the blades sharp. The razor is adjustable so you can match it to your skin and hiar type. Best thing I bought in a long time.

Clinique or Clarins moisturiser?
I cant decide between Clinique dramatically different moisturiser or Clarins multi active day moisturiser? I have normal/oily skin|||if you had to choose between the 2 DEFINITELY go the Clarins. Clinique are designed to compliment their face wash and toner and they strip your skin of all the good oils in an attempt to "wash it clean". Then your skin overproduces oil thus creating "the pimple". being a beauty therapist and make up artist i've seen many girls anihilate their skin by using product that hasn't moved with the times.
If you're willing to diversify, try dermalogica, guinot, or biotherm. their products are simple, in the same price bracket as clinique and clarins but are more effective.|||i have been using clinique's three step system for 6 months now, havent had a breakout since. my skin is combination dry-flakey/oily and very sensitive. go with clinique and do it at bonus gift time! :)|||i use clinique moisture surge and that is fantastic. its like a gel and its so nice and makes your skin feel fantastic.

Do clarins test on animals?
i dont like to use anything that tests on animals or uses animal tested ingredients! its so hard to find makeup. i usually go to the body shop and the health food shop.

I want to buy day and night cream but I don't know what is the best kind of cream in the market. I did a search and I found that a lot of girls like using clarins and clinique. Some of them don't prefer to use Clarins and they claim that it's not the best. If Clarins isn't the best which cream do you think is the best.

What brands of kohl powder eyeliner are available?
I've always used Sally Hansen kohl powder eyeliner, but it has recently been discontinued. I know that Guerlain and Clarins make kohl powder, but Guerlain's is very expensive and Clarins's is only limited edition. I've seen Hashmi kohl, but some say it contains lead, so I am wary of it. It is funny you just asked this question because i have just bought it after my sister recommended it to me. This is the best self-tanner I have ever used and I've tried a lot of them. It has a gel-like consistency and goes on smoothly. I always moisturize my knees, feet, and elbows to ensure an even tan.
Unlike others I have used it will not turn you orange, it will give you a very natural looking tan without the sun damage. I've only used this on my body but it suggests to use it on your face too.
Another benefit of this product i found is you can get dressed right away without having to worry about this product transferring onto your clothes! I have already gone through several tubes and will keep buying it. I highly, highly recommend this product. Oh just be sure to wash your hands well after applying it.

Can anyone tell me which brand is better for skin care products (cleanser,moisturizer, etc), i have used clinique before and I liked it, but I have heard good things about clarins too, so I just want to if anyone has used both and which is better, also if they are any other brands that are good, please let me know.

It's good, but so is Cover Girl Replenishing. and it's cheaper!
Clarins vs. dr. hauschka's for acne prone skin, also prone to redness?
which would you suggest?|||I wouldn't use Clarins as I have heard it dries the skin out. Dr Hauschka's is a favorite of the model agencies as my friend has just been advised to try it. In my opinion though, SK:N does a good set called acnecare which I started using and since my skin which isn't acne prone but does get the odd breakout etc. has been fantastic. I also use a daily spf 30 now which I think is also helping! Hope that helped x

Is mac fix+ or clarins fix' make-up better? Or would wearing a primer be better?
I've never tried clarins, but i use mac fix+ and primer(smashbox). It depends on what you are looking for. A primer helps smooth your foundation application and make your makeup last longer. Fix+ is a finishing spray that help sets your makeup and gives it a natural dewy look.

Murad skincare has saved my skin! I was having a really bad breakout, and now it has been one month and its more than halfway gone (which is really saying something because it was bad!) and it is getting nicer everyday! No. I never tired it. for that matter, I never even heard of it.|||I have used it and I love it. It makes my face feel soft and the wrinkles disappear. It is expensive but, I bought it in December and I just finished it up 3 months later.

What good products does Clarins have? Anyone tried any?
my fav's are:
face treatment oil - extra extra moisture without the greasy feeling, great for winter dryness
cleansing milk - very gentle cleanser
gentle facial peel - gentle exfoliator|||I think their skincare is decent but nothing amazing. I think their makeup line is above average with good foundations, shadows and lip colors. But the Multi-Touch Blush is excellent! It's a cream to powder that wears well, has great pigment and doesn't leave a sticky finish.

i bought Clarins Double Serum Generation 6, when i read the label it says it's for women in 40s. i'm 30, should i use different product?|||I'm sure it'll do your skin some good. If you smoke or use sunbeds they age the skin a bit anyway.

Am a recently qualified beauty therapy lecturer and am looking to do some training for clarins cosmetics|||just go in and ask (if you dont ask you dont find out) and try round the other beauty sections like dior ect have you even considered crews ships as that a brilliant job opportunity xxx|||Beauty therapy lecturer eh? Clarins don't employ beauty therapy college graduates, they employ science graduates (i.e. clever people).|||check out john lewis, they just posted a beaty therapist wanted ad esp to train for clarins - down south somewhere, so i know they employ and train! Think i saw debenems aswell! they should point you in the right direction..|||There are many different levels of training in retail cosmetics. If you are interested in being a regional or national trainer, I would contact Clarins, USA Human Recources department and find out what qualifications are necessary to be a member of the education team. I do not know what other training you have, they may require a bachelors degree in education, maybe even an aesthetics license. Maybe go to your local Clarins counter and ask for the voicemail number or card of the local account executive. They will be able to point you in the right direction and tell you if they have any current openings within their market.

has anyone ever tried Clarins One Step Gentle Exfoliater? its the orange one. well i have it and i find its quite good, but i was wondering if there is a better one, please can you answer if you have tried it because then i know what you are comparing it to. thankyou! also i want an exfoliater to smooth my skin and dry patches and not for acne prone skin.|||I'm using Clarins products too and I am really glad I started to use it. I just bought some of the lip liners, and eyeliner, but didn't try it out first... Never heard of it til now, curious if it is a good line...|||I've never used their make up but their skin care line is fantastic! I bought some yesteday, slept in it overnight and woke up still WHITE! Do you have to use it a couple times to get the color to show?|||Yes, it takes a few days to work. I also start using it this time of year so that the first time I wear sandals or capris I don't look like some pale freak. Actually after a couple of days I was so tan I had to back off. If you use it again tonight, by tomorrow you should see a little color.|||not me

Do you think Clarins, Clinique, or Lancome Paris is better?
clarins sounds like clarance which sounds like parents who ruin all the fun so not that one!|||They're all good. It depends on what you're looking for and which one makes your skin feel the best.|||Clinique!|||I am not sure about Clarins, but I know for a fact that clinique and lancome products are really good. Clinique products are more economical than lancome ones and are really good products.
However every lancome product I have ever tried has been amazing, so much so that I even have a lancome beach bag and lancome slippers. I take that beach bag everywhere and those flip flops have been the best I've ever had. They're skin products are excellent, if you are looking for comfort, in your products and great results, lancome is the way to go. But you don't have to rule out clinique completely, I'm not too crazy about how some of clinique's products smell though.

Skincare help? Lumpy bumpy skin after using Clarins?
I bought new toner and moisturiser by Clarins right and since I started using it my skin has turned horrible, like kind of bumpy and it looks like all my pores are like craters. When I'm at the gym sweating, the skin on my face actually stings. Now, I have no allergies that I know of so I don't have a clue why this is happening. I use Molten Brown face wash and have done for ages and I love that. Needless to say I've stopped using the Clarins but my skin isn't going back to normal. Please help me!|||It sounds like the Clarins products were too strong for your skin. I had the same thing happen when I tried Garnier Pure A range. It takes 6 weeks for your skin to renew its self so you have to wait it out unfortunately.
I use 2 cleansers and 1 exfoliator now; one cleanser is a deep pore wash by Neutrogena which I use most of the time, the other is a mild soap-free cleanser by Simple, which I use if my skin needs a bit more care or is looking too dry. The exfoliator is from Clinique and I use it twice a day. I've found that this is the perfect balance for my skin (and I've been through practically everything out there)

Does clarins true raidance foundation make face oily?
Check the ingredients label...if it has any type of oil in it, then yes it is very possible it's creating excess oil on your face, especially if you have oily skin to start with. Look for foundations and powders that are oil-free; this will help drastically.|||its funny you ask that because I use to use that before i switched to Macs studio fix fluid and i felt the same way....i was like why do i look greasy!

However, most dept stores hve proper counters for clairns. they have a wide range of skin care and cosmetics i found that they interact with customers more. but i rarely see consultants apply make up for customers
Clinique is also a good choice for balanced skin and make up... same as estee lauder.
for mainly cosmetics i'd suggest revlon, dior or channel
once you become a consultant, they'd provide you with proper training in store and out of store, colour matching, basic applications etc i dont' think they give much training when it comes to skin care (i'm pretty sure you just learn on the go,) I was told to just read from the packet when i had to fill in for chanel, butthere were testers for you to play around with and get familiar with the texture, smell etc..

The best cheap and simple moisturiser, with no chemicals is E45. They do a lotion as well as the simple cream, which is less greasy.
It's recommended for people with ecsema or other skin conditions as it's non-fragranced and very gentle.
It may also be worth using a very gentle cleanser too. In the winter creamy cleansers which you wipe off with cotton wool are much more gentle than face wash, or "toner" style cleansers .
Also, with Christmas coming up, you could always try recommending to your friends/family that they treat you to the Clarins cream as a present...

No lie! I would spend $100 or so for my summer tan in a bottle and always had streaks no matter what I tried...it is like a lotion and blends w/in 1-2 days and leaves me looking like I hit the beach...try it!...You only have $7 to lose|||i recommend dove as well. it truly is great! I have blonde hair and fair skin, but bought the tanning lotion for darker skin. i was great, and you build up the tan quicker than with the light one.it never streaks, the trick is making sure you rub it in really well. happy tanning.

If I am colour 110 in Clarins foundation Skin Illusion, what is my MAC shade?

And it's also not a good idea to guess, because most of the time it will be off. Don't be scared to ask, they are there to help. Ask them for a sample. I made the mistake of guessing my color from MAC when I ordered online, and the color was way too orange. So the best idea is to face your fears and just ask for help. I use the All About Eyes from Clinique, and honestly, I don't notice any kind of difference in the appearance of my dark circles. Then again, I have a one-year old running around and a 7-year old drama queen, so I don't think they are going away anytime soon! I like Clinique because it is gel based and very hydrating, which is key - KEEP SKIN HYDRATED!
I have heard nothing but good things about Clarins, though. But I have only used their cleansers.
I am sure you wouldn't have a problem trying them both and returning the one you don't like. I have returned products from both manufacturers, and never had an issue.

Re which foundation estee lauder or clarins?
ok i want to find a good foundation im stuck between clarins and estee lauder bouble wear both have good reviews leaning more towards estee lauder i have normal skin anyone have any ideas which are the best and last longer out of the 2 im not interested in anything else but these so any tips would be great thank you|||Clarins or Dior is great makeup brand flawless not cakey.

Has anyone used Decleor Stretch mark cream, Clarins Stretch Mark Control, or Mustela Stretch Mark lotion?
I heard strivectin does not work. so has anyone used those, and are they effective?|||I recommend saving your money. Fancy creams do little if anything.

Does clarins self tanner work well? i dont want an orange tan?
i have used almost everything in the book.. loreal sublime, jergens, you name it.
if theres anymore top of the line tanners, please tell me.
also, when summer starts back up, i will probably go to a tanning bed. i have fair dry skin though. what can i do to prevent peeling and dry skin?|||bare minerals makes a fabulous self tanner. I used it, loved it, completely natural looking and dries fairly fast. I have used TONS of self tanners and this one was by far the best. it works on your face as well. this self tanner is also a great moisturizer since its a mineral based tanner.!

Have anyone used it for pregnancy such as for stretch marks?|||No sorry i've only used bio-oil or palmers stretch mark cream, of which I did not see any noticeable difference in my stretchmarks, however I must admit I was not very religious about applying them! I slightly preferred the cream because it absorbed more easily into my skin and smelt yum (like all palmers cocoa butter products!). A nifty trick you could try is to add pure vitamin E oil to your baths and to soak yourself (I find this much less time consuming than rubbing the oil in directly). Other oils you can try if you are interested are Mama Mio Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Oil, RoC Maternity Anti-Stretch Mark Oil, Cowshed Udderly Gorgeous Stretch Mark Oil or This Works

I was given a Clarins moisuriser as a gift and it really is very nice and effective in keeping my oily skin relatively shine-free but hydrated. I am in need of other facial-care products and was wondering if it is worth the investment as they are so expensive. Or would I be better off with products from Dermalogica or Environ? What is your opinion of Clarins and BioTherm products? Which is best line?
Honestly, Clarins is way, way, way too expensive to be worth buying. The Multi-Active Day Cream-Gel and Moisture Quenching Hydra-Balance Lotion are quite good, but rediculously priced for what you get.
BioTherm is pretty good -- they use a lot of very good antioxidants in their products and the prices are more reasonable (though still kind of a ripoff, less so than Clarins). The Special Wrinkle Sun Block is good but unfortunately only available outside the US, Biosource Clarifying Exfoliating Gel is good but super-expensive, and the Biosource Softening Lotion for Dry Skin is one of the best toners out there for ALL skin types, and is very reasonably priced as well.
But you should also be aware that BioTherm is discontinuing their products in stores -- from now on, they will only be sold via their website.

wat bout lancome?|||I havent personally tried Clarins true radiance foundation, but its supposedly very good. I have, however, tried the blush and all i can say is that it is EXCELLENT, its my new favorite thing actually, so im quite sure that the foundation is pretty good. Doesn`t make my skin oily, shiny, break out, or anything like that. I`d say its pretty good and wont make your face oily or shiny either. Just make sure you get a tone that matches your skin complexion :)

I don't see why not. I heard it's never too early to start a good skin care regimen, and always good to moisturize. Those brands are good, but too pricey for me. Also if you pick any foundation make sure you get a setting powder and a primer to make it last, I love the Clarins Instant Smoothing Perfect touch primer as it makes your skin feel very smooth and helps foundation apply well aswell as making the make up last, and for a setting powder I love MAC's Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder which stops you getting shiny and also makes pores and fine lines much less visible, the Make Up Forever HD powder does a very similar thing and if you only plan to use it once they sell a small container of it

The SPF is also low making it photosafe.
You could also try MAC Face and Body which I believe is waterproof, but light coverage. Their Studio Fix is a more full coverage foundation.|||I just brought that new clinique foundation that helps to hide and get rid of blemishes and spots and i love it! it stays on all day doesn't go greasy, gives great coverage and i have had lots of compliments that my skin was glowing! So I would defiantly suggest that one.
p.s Congrats on getting married!|||Use Mac Mineraize fondation! Then put Mac Select Sheer presed power on top to stopit going to shiny!

Whenever I put on foundation, it always ends up looking caked and dry despite moisturizing in advance. I think I just have large pores and combination skin that can get dry. I've read/seen videos on people raving about Clarins perfecting touch instant smooth primer. It's $32 for a half ounce! Any other products out there that get similar results? I wear makeup very rarely in general so it's not something I would use daily.|||Smashbox Photo Finish Light - I love the matte feeling, not to mention its really lightweight. I prefer the texture of this "Light" version to the original, which feels greasy in my opinion. I have sensitive skin but am susceptible to breakouts and this hasn't caused any skin problems.

I prefer the coverage of clinique foundation. It covers all of my blemishes easily and I love it for the winter. However as your skin colour changes as it gets sunnier it may not match your skin tone anymore. So I would suggest a foundation that matches your skin colour as it changes. But to answer your question to a T, I would say that Clinique is the best for me.|||Depends which one is right for your skin! I use Estee Lauders Double Wear during the winter months - love it, but have to change once I get any amount of tan - currently using a Clarins one. I also sometimes use a real cheapy tinted moisturiser which is great in the summer.

How long does it take for this fake tan to develop?|||it takes about two hours to develop.
make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub (i love those exfoliating gloves you get, you can get them from boots for about 拢3). this will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. dry your skin thoroughly afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. you might want to apply some extra moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows. this skin can look funny when fake tan is applied so the moisturiser should give you a more even look.
sometime it helps to start from your feet and work up, as this way you don't get lines and streaks on your upper body when you bend over. apply the cream in even, circular motions. you could try wearing rubber gloves, this is supposed to make application smoother and also protects your hands from staining. don't overdo it on areas like knees and elbows and when you apply it to your face, watch you don't overdo your neck in comparison. if you want cream applied to your back you will need assistance.
once you have applied it you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining, and take care to wash your nails, cuticles and in between your fingers as cream tends to gather here. you have to let the tanning cream dry for at least half an hour, so don't put clothes on or you risk staining them and cause patches to develop on your skin. the only thing to do is sit on an old towel in a room where you have some privacy so that you are not moving around a lot lol. a good time of the day to apply self tanning lotion is before you go to bed, so that you don't stain your clothes, but remember to put old towels on the sheets so that you don't stain them either.
when i use fake tan, i use a make up sponge or a cotton wool pad to do my hands with. also bend your fingers to get in between your knuckles to prevent any tell tale white lines. using a sponge gives an even coverage with no harsh lines and no stained palms. good luck.
